Vida residencial en Distrito Palmerola

Home / The Project

Cities with purpose.

More than a real estate development: a new way to live, work and connect in the heart of Honduras.

The vision

A new reunion, designed for life.

In 2022, CIMA PROPERTIES acquired 67 hectares facing the new Palmerola International Airport with a clear purpose: to create an urban development designed for life.

Distrito Palmerola is a new chapter for Comayagua. It represents an urban evolution with better public spaces, new economic opportunities, greater connectivity and an urban life designed around people.

Its goal: to connect people, not just spaces. To drive a new way of life built on urban quality, purposeful design and real progress for Honduras.

Why Distrito Palmerola

Four convictions at its foundation.

01

Identity and continuity

Not a brand-new city, but a coherent evolution of Comayagua's growth, one that honors its history and carries it into the future.

02

People-centered

Inspired by GEHL's “Life–Space–Buildings” approach: every public space is walkable, functional, safe and livable.

03

Strategic location

At the country's logistics heart: facing the airport, along the CA-5, close to ports and borders. Ideal for investment, mobility and quality of life.

04

A sustainable, scalable model

Phased growth designed to adapt to change without losing sight of the vision or its principles. A development built for the future from the very start.

World-class planning

Designed by GEHL, creators of “cities for people.”

The vision and master plan were developed by the internationally renowned urban design firm GEHL, in collaboration with Castillo Arquitectos.

Guided by the “soft cities” philosophy, the district prioritizes human scale: spaces that invite you to walk, meet and linger, where public life unfolds naturally.

The program and its users

A city that lives all day long.

The activities at Distrito Palmerola are diverse and complementary. The essential—work, the supermarket, services—and the leisurely—a café, the plaza, a park—overlap to weave the fabric of public life.

For people

Workers, residents and visitors come together in public spaces that foster connection and belonging.

Human scale

A walkable, safe environment that puts pedestrians and cyclists ahead of the car.

Purposeful design

Every street, plaza and park has an intention: to create vibrancy and quality of life.

Key design elements

Seven dimensions, one complete city.

The district's design balances seven dimensions that, together, create a complete and purposeful place.

Urban form and architecture

Human-scale blocks and buildings that give the district its identity and coherence.

Cultural identity and community

Spaces that foster connection, belonging and community life.

Economic development

Mixed uses that generate jobs, investment and opportunity for the region.

Mobility and access

Priority for pedestrians, cyclists and public transit over the car.

Ecology and sustainability

Green areas, microclimate and a model that grows responsibly.

Public life

Plazas, parks and active streets where the district's everyday life takes place.

Brand manifesto

We believe cities should bring us together, not drive us apart. But along the way, progress became separation: growth meant congestion, and development forgot the very people it was meant to serve.

Distrito Palmerola is here to change that. It is more than a new urban district: it is a new reconnection—with time, with walkable spaces, with opportunity, and between people.

Because we don't just build infrastructure. We build belonging. A new reconnection, designed for life.
